101 on Smokey Eyes

The look is refined and classic. A smokey eye is sexy on everyone and is good for all occasions. Whether you’re going out for a party or just a small get together, a smoky eye is the perfect way to look good. No matter what your eye colour may be, the smoky eye will work for you. You may have to adjust the makeup a little bit to match your eye colour, but you will not be disappointed as long as you have the proper experience. No matter if you buy expensive or drug store makeup, you should find that the smoky eye is easier than some are lead to believe.

Now, it’s time to decide on what colours would suit your eyes:

Brown Eyes-

Brown eyed beauties have a lot of colours to choose from. They could use anything from bronze to blue. Pale purples, beige, gold, peach, pink, champagne, greens, blues, coral, copper, orange or even plum could be the accents you need for your smoky eye. Stick to the main colour of black for your smoky eye for sure.

Blue Eyes

Ladies with blue eyes have quite a few shades that they can pick from as well, but not nearly as much as people with brown eyes can. Something that many people believe is that blues are right for blue eyes, but this is false. Unless you’re using a dark blue, you shouldn’t have blue on. Shades of grey, brown, orange, taupe, purple, violet, and silver also look brilliant on someone with blue eyes. Dark colours will make light eyes pop so keep that in mind. You can use either dark grey, black, or dark blue for your main colour in your smoky eye.

Green Eyes

Ladies with green eyes really have to pay attention to their skin to make most of their decisions with makeup, unfortunately. They cannot use a lot of colours with their eyes. Most people with green eyes can use colors like brown, red, beige, purple, and pink. Also, light greens look very good with green eyes and make them pop, but avoid dark green. You can use black or dark brown as your main colour in your smoky eye.

A quick tip when doing a dramatic eye is to make sure that your eye shadow is well blended. Always use a blending brush that has a soft, fluffy brush head to provide a gentle application of colour to soften harsh lines or apply a transition colour to the crease this will help you master this look, I personally use and love Mac’s 217 Blending Brush. Lastly, this dramatic eye looks great when paired baby pink or even a nude lip. I always say it’s just makeup— it will wipe off. So have fun and experiment!

Review: Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara

Okay, I must admit I’m a sucker for cute packaging when I’m buying makeup. In the past I have used and loved Doll Lashes mascara from Lancome. When I went to go repurchase this mascara I ended up getting Hypnose Star, I just liked the sparkly “ombre” tube more than the doll lashes. So silly, I know.

I would say I’m kind of a mascara fiend, and at this point in my endless quest for the perfect mascara, this is the closest I’ve come. I’ve used super pricy to the super cheap and everything in between and this is great. You can go dramatic or just use one coat for a more natural look. Try with a slim cat eye liner and a couple individual lashes and it’s gorgeous. Overall it gives you volume, length and thickness, separation with a few coats. It can be simple or dramatic.

Unconventional Beauty Tricks!

                                                                   (Photo Via)

1.) Silk Pillowcase-

Consider this an excuse to splurge on fancy new pillowcases! Ever since I bought my silk pillow cases I have noticed it has done wonders for my skin and my hair!

Silk is natural material that is hypoallergenic (which is really good) and also is packed with amino acids. Because of this it absorbs moisture and adjusts to all temperatures which means your skin won’t be sticking to a sweaty pillowcase and accumulating pore-clogging oils. Your hair will stay soft and static free as you snooze away to dream land!

2.) Water Purifiers

Unfiltered, hard water contains tons of chlorine and toxins, which can really take their toll on your skin and strands. This is why water purifiers in the form of showerheads filters are huge! You will definitely see a huge improvement in your hair and skin! This is a MUST!

3.) Vaseline – all-purpose beauty product

 (Photo Via)

Smooth flyways – I always have my mini Vaseline container with me at all times, everywhere I go there is one sitting beside me. Not only I use it moisture my lips and cuticle it’s great to tame frizz and seal dry spilt ends it is also great to keep unruly eyebrows in place.

Instant Highlighter – Swap your highlighter for Vaseline. Just dab a small amount on the high points of your face for a dewy, naturally luminous glow. Slide a bit down your shins to make your legs glow too.

I literally have three types of hairstyles straight, wavy and homeless. I have never been good at styling my own hair, I get bored, my arms get tired and I end up giving up. My hair is pretty fine but I have a lot of it. If I shower and let my hair dry it’s have a slight wavy but for the most part it’s pretty straight. But lately I have been styling my hair wavy and it’s so easy and perfect for summer. All you do is spritz sea salt stray into your hair with some water to dampen it. Then grab all your hair at the back, divide it into two sections, twist the two sections around each other and when you reach the end, just roll the twisted hair into a bun and secure it with a band.

Make sure it’s tight even if it’s not perfect. Let the bun be for a minimum of two hours. Open the bun and separate your curls gently, scrunch it with some mousse if you so desire and you’re ready to hit the beach!

DIY Sea-Salt Spray Ingredients

– 1 cup warm water

– 1 Tbsp. sea salt

– 1 tsp Epsom salt

– 1 Tbsp. organic coconut oil

– 5 drops essential oil, optional

You’re going to need to start out with very warm water, preferably heated on the stove to nearly (but not quite) boiling. Next, add the sea salt and Epsom salt and stir until they are dissolved. When the salt is dissolved, add one tablespoon of organic coconut oil. You’ll have to stir it until it is melted completely. If you want to add essential oil for scent (I love adding peppermint oil) add five drops at the end. Mix well, and then pour into a spray bottle. Let me know some of your go to looks down below!

MINI BODY SHOP HAUL-

body

I recently went to The Body Shop because I have been eyeing their Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Balm but ended up with a little extra goodies as well.

Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Balm-

This cleansing balm is designed to remove makeup and impurities away and leaving your skin feeling clean refreshed.

I personally love The Body Shop skincare and use their Tea Tree Oil face wash daily for years now, but this particular product blows me away. This is the best cleanser I ever bought. No other cleanser has ever removed makeup as gentle or as effective as this one. Just like the description says, it literally melts away the makeup, even on the eye area, and it doesn’t sting or blur the eyes. It leaves my skin is smooth and silky. Not greasy or oily at all! Just a little bit goes a long way, so the price is well worth it. I love the pleasant smell too. I will definitely buy this again and encourage you ladies to try it out.

Strawberry Eau De Toilette-

In the past I have bought and used the body mist in Strawberry and just love the scent. It’s very light and wearable not over powering at all. The strawberry scent is very sweet and fruity and the toilette contains strawberry extract, which is a nice feature. But the bottle is a third the size of the body spray, and they work the exact same, but this costs more and comes with way less. The smell is gone within 10 minutes honestly. So when I run out of the toilette I repurchase the body mist instead.

Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz-

I love this product. It’s quick and easy to use – just spritz it on your face when your skin is feeling dull and you will instantly have a radiant glow! TIP– this product also works great as a setting spray after you applied you makeup it locks it in place and doesn’t make you look matte at all!

Mascara Heaven – Eye Studio Sampler

pic33

I love make up and more importantly love long thick lashes with a bold lip as my every day look. But sometimes I do just wear mascara and when I am wearing mascara alone, I am VERY particular on what I like and use. I have used many, many mascaras…in all price ranges and my top three brands are Dior, Maybelline and Lancôme. Even though those brands are the crème du crème for mascaras in my opinion, I am always seeking and trying new brands just to make sure I’m not missing out.

But back to the eye sampler in this set you receive 6 deluxe size samples of mascaras so you can try them all out and whatever one ticked your fancy you receive a coupon of free full size mascara. The brands are Shiseido, Clairns, Elizabeth Arden, Benefit, Lancôme and Smashbox. Below I have rated the mascaras brand performance and ranked them out of 5 –

Shiseido – Perfect Mascara Full Definition
Designed for short and fine lashes it’s easy to handle brush gives length and volume to the shorts lashes. Smudge proof removes easily. Down side there is a fragrance to this mascara and it really makes my eyes water.
2.5/5

Lancome Hynose Drama

Get ultra volume-boosting lashes. Brush is designed with a S shaped curve, grasps and loads lashes with a fanned out look. I’m obsessed with Lancome mascara.
5/5

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Lash Enhancing Mascara
Ultra black lashes fuses with care. Gives multi-dimensional mascara volume, length and curl
4.5/5

Clarins Wonder Perfect Mascara-
It does add volume and some length but it flaked throughout the day and messy to apply
2/5

Benfit BADgal Lash-

Famously big brush coats lashes with a ultra black look. I found the wand very hard to use on bottom lashes
2/5

Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightening Mascara-

3-in-1 eye opening mascara. Has “Blue Prism Technology” that brightens for a wide-eyed effect. Flakes and formula was runny creating a mess. Not a fan.
1/5

Out of all six mascara Lancome and Elizabeth Arden were my favorite. Lancome mascara I gave a 5 out of 5 because I think Lancome is a top leader when it comes to performance, although I didn’t pick it I got the best results. I ended up going with Elizabeth Arden because I was really surprise how good it made my lashes look and it’s not a brand that I ever use. I really like the length and the fullness I get from this product on my lashes. The wand takes a little getting use to. The bristles pack a lot of mascara; I found it stays on all day, and gives beautiful long sexy lashes. It is comfortable for all day wear and comes off easily at night. 4.5 out of 5 stars because the bristles on wand need a little work!

Ladies, you thought your beauty routine was a lot? Try pulling off 100 years of styles in one minute. A Settle-based creative agency The Cut filmed a time-lapse video recreating looks to match every decade from 1910 to 2010. Simply brilliant reviews of past centuries, the hairstyles and makeup looks are accurately represented. It’s interesting to see how the evolution of society’s standards of beauty has changed in the past 100 years. I personally love 1930’s & 1950’s looks the best, which look is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below, enjoy!

Sorry I’m Late..

Oh the struggle. There is nothing more complex then mastering the perfect winged eyeliner. Liquid winged eyeliner skill does not come within one day you have to practice. Even when you think you’ve mastered it good luck on getting both eyes to match..

I’ve searched Pinterest for a ton of liquid eyeliner tips and tricks for myself and wanted to share them with you. There are actually a lot of different techniques that you can use if you’re struggling.

  • Figure out your eye shape, and what eyeliner style will best emphasize your eye.
  • Less is more. Use small strokes to avoid mistakes
  • Apply a piece of clear tape on the outer edges of your eye to create the perfect wing
  • Use a neutral eyeliner to map out the angle of the wing

Perfect Eyebrows Every time

Photo-68

QUICK TAKE: Water Resistant, Long Lasting, Natural

Like most girls I am super picky about my brows, so I’ve been looking for a product that would give me a natural look but one I could easily control. My favorite product is Dipbrow Pomade by Anastasia Beverly Hills it is amazing!

This product is really pigmented, so a little goes a long way. I use very little product to fill in my entire brow. I’ve been using this product for 3 months now and have used less than half of the jar. The formula is also long lasting, so my brows are perfect all day. I love the color options too! They recently added new colours so you’re sure to find the perfect match. There is such a get range of options. I am constantly getting compliments on my brows.

I simply brush it along the bottom line of my brows with an angle brush and brush upward with the spool brush on the other end of the brow brush. You must have a spool brush to even out the product. When I first started using it I was very nervous that my brows would look to strong because it’s so highly pigmented. I defiantly would recommend you practice and use a steady hand I’ve embedded a video demonstrating how to use it, I found this videos very helpful, enjoy!

Dirty Little Secret

photo-4

I have my fair share of dirty little secrets. Take, for instance, the fact that I actually enjoy Kourteny & Khole Take the Hampton’s or that I eat peanut butter right out of the jar. Oh, and here’s another, I always wear makeup to the gym. Funny thing is that most people would find that last one the most egregious. But before you (like my friends & gym mates) jump down my throat or post incredulous comments below, let me explain.

No I’m not sporting a smoky eye with a bold lip before I jump on the elliptical. I simply just touch up my face with a swipe (or, okay two) of my tinted moisturizer. Put a little gloss on to give my lip some colour. The odds are that I’m not alone in my pre workout prep so here are few of my tricks and potions to give me the I woke up like this look.
