The look is refined and classic. A smokey eye is sexy on everyone and is good for all occasions. Whether you’re going out for a party or just a small get together, a smoky eye is the perfect way to look good. No matter what your eye colour may be, the smoky eye will work for you. You may have to adjust the makeup a little bit to match your eye colour, but you will not be disappointed as long as you have the proper experience. No matter if you buy expensive or drug store makeup, you should find that the smoky eye is easier than some are lead to believe.

Now, it’s time to decide on what colours would suit your eyes:

Brown Eyes-

Brown eyed beauties have a lot of colours to choose from. They could use anything from bronze to blue. Pale purples, beige, gold, peach, pink, champagne, greens, blues, coral, copper, orange or even plum could be the accents you need for your smoky eye. Stick to the main colour of black for your smoky eye for sure.

Blue Eyes

Ladies with blue eyes have quite a few shades that they can pick from as well, but not nearly as much as people with brown eyes can. Something that many people believe is that blues are right for blue eyes, but this is false. Unless you’re using a dark blue, you shouldn’t have blue on. Shades of grey, brown, orange, taupe, purple, violet, and silver also look brilliant on someone with blue eyes. Dark colours will make light eyes pop so keep that in mind. You can use either dark grey, black, or dark blue for your main colour in your smoky eye.

Green Eyes

Ladies with green eyes really have to pay attention to their skin to make most of their decisions with makeup, unfortunately. They cannot use a lot of colours with their eyes. Most people with green eyes can use colors like brown, red, beige, purple, and pink. Also, light greens look very good with green eyes and make them pop, but avoid dark green. You can use black or dark brown as your main colour in your smoky eye.

A quick tip when doing a dramatic eye is to make sure that your eye shadow is well blended. Always use a blending brush that has a soft, fluffy brush head to provide a gentle application of colour to soften harsh lines or apply a transition colour to the crease this will help you master this look, I personally use and love Mac’s 217 Blending Brush. Lastly, this dramatic eye looks great when paired baby pink or even a nude lip. I always say it’s just makeup— it will wipe off. So have fun and experiment!

I’ve searched Pinterest for a ton of liquid eyeliner tips and tricks for myself and wanted to share them with you. There are actually a lot of different techniques that you can use if you’re struggling.

  • Figure out your eye shape, and what eyeliner style will best emphasize your eye.
  • Less is more. Use small strokes to avoid mistakes
  • Apply a piece of clear tape on the outer edges of your eye to create the perfect wing
  • Use a neutral eyeliner to map out the angle of the wing
